Public consultation on changes to the .IE registration requirements

The Ireland's Domain Registry is currently considering some changes regarding the .IE registration.

Currently, if you want to register a .IE domain name you must :

  • Prove your Identity
  • Justify your address / connection to the Ireland
  • Claim the name ( Prove that registering a .IE domain name is legitimate : Ireland based business, Irish clients etc.)

What could change ?

You might be able to register a .IE domain name without proving a legitimate claim when applying for a new .IE domain. However, the first two criterias for registration must still be met.
